How we give back!
At RMC we like to give back! Our diverse team support organizations of various interests by volunteering and donating.
Here are just a few.
American Cancer Society
American Cancer Society tackles cancer through various angles such as free lodging near treatment, a 24/7/365 live helpline, rides to treatment, and much more. They are on a mission to free the world from cancer, but until then they will fund research, share expert information, support patient and spread prevention methods, all so you can live a longer and better life.
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow’s cures through cutting-edge research. Read about our history, our breakthroughs, and the resources that help us support the health of our neighborhoods and communities.
The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community fundraising events.
St. Jude Research
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
Welcome Lodge- MASS Knights of Pythias
The Knights of Pythias is a non-sectarian, fraternal organization, which does charitable work within various communities. Some events and charitable work include their Annual Golf Tournament, helping MARE find adoptive homes for children in foster care, as well as their annual Holiday party for the clientele at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain, and more!
Reading Food Pantry
The current euphemism for hunger is “food insecurity”. It still means not knowing where your next meal is coming from or if you will have enough to feed your kids. Reading’s response to the issue is the food pantry. Since the 1980’s the pantry has been housed in the Old South Methodist Church, sponsored by the Reading Clergy Association, staff by volunteers and stocked by the monetary and nonperishable food donations of townspeople. It is truly us taking care of ours!
The Y makes accessible the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nation’s health and well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
Mission of Deeds
Mission of Deeds began with the simple dream of one man: to provide basic home essentials to those in need. Today, with the help of our dedicated volunteers and the generous donations of the community, Mission of Deeds serves thousands of veterans, previously homeless, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, the elderly, victims of fire or other tragedies, and those with disabilities.
Falmouth Service Center
The Sato Project
The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico in particular on Dead Dog Beach. They rescue dogs and provide them with emergency vet care updated shots, spay/neuter, etc. Once approved to travel they are flown to JFK or Newark where volunteers drive them to their respective forever home, a sanctuary partner or foster home. One of our team members is an approved foster parent for perspective adoption dogs.
Territorio de Zaguates
The word “zaguate” is used in Costa Rica to refer to a mixed breed dog, a mutt, a stray. Territorio de Zaguates is a “No-Kill Shelter”, a dog sanctuary for over 1.000 wagging tails, where we do not believe in euthanasia as a solution to the problem of abandoned dogs in Costa Rica. Our mission is to find a home for all the dogs that are in our care. We are a temporary home for hundreds of puppies looking for a second chance, and we are also the permanent home of many others who may never find their own family.
We have many members of our team who volunteer their time coaching their local sports team whether soccer, baseball, you can often find them with a gym bag in hand!
